Eiko and Koma
Since 1972, Japanese-born choreographer/dancers Eiko & Koma have collaborated in creating and performing a unique theater of movement out of stillness, shape, light, sound, and time. For most of their works, Eiko & Koma create their own sets and costumes, setting their choreography on their own bodies.

Based in New York City since 1976, Eiko & Koma have presented their work in theaters, universities, museums, galleries, outdoors, and festivals world-wide including numerous appearances at the American Dance Festival, five seasons at New York's Brooklyn Academy of Music, and a month-long "living" gallery installation in the Whitney Museum.

Eiko & Koma have received numerous awards, including the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship, a joint MacArthur Fellowship, the Samuel H. Scripps American Dance Festival Award, the Dance Magazine Award, and the United States Artists Award.
