Paula Robinson
My career started as a model and marketing consultant in 1971; by 1982, I was offered a position as a talk show host with WILD AM 1090 radio Boston. After producing more than 150 shows while studying graphic design, video and film in college; I eventually became Director of Public Relations for WFXT TV Fox 25 Boston. In 1996, I retired from broadcast media to coach under-served small businesses that were unsophisticated about image, uninformed about media and virtually ignored by Ad agencies and Public Relations Companies. Throughout my life, I’ve been astutely aware of the impact that image and communications media can have on customs and beliefs - particularly the acquisition of language in action, street culture, personal identification and the social behavior of young people. Part of this realization is that drawings, music, animation, movies, and news can create a cushion against the pain of the harsh realities of life, or stereotypes in shocking disproportion to the truth, detrimental to healthy self-esteem. The negative impacts of historically exploitive public relations campaigns have lasted generations in under-served communities. In order to take a stand, I’ve created a not-for-profit training institute from my experience, research and findings to coach those most in need of positive systemic change in overcoming stereotypes at eworkstyle.com. My approach is to help those in need find personal balance, grasp the possibilities of communications media and use it invest in themselves, their families and their communities' future and sustainability.
