I live on an island off the Texas coast.

I was born on a cold December day, and I am told the heater didn't work in the newborn nursery. The next 18 years of my life are best left in the dark.

Upon graduating from high school I attended the University of Saint Thomas in Houston, Texas. I have mixed feelings about my time St. Thomas, but it definitely made me more aware of the world around me and the double standards that exist in all segments of our society. BUT, I guess that is the purpose of college, sooooo...

In 1999 I went to work for the Texas House of Representatives for State Rep. Craig Eiland (D-Galveston) as his District Director, managing his local offices as well as serving as his liason between state and local governmental entities. The position entailed not only those duties but as well as anything and everything you can imagine --- working on legislation, hiring interns, handling child support problems, talking to people who believed they received signals from outer space through their bi-focals, and dealing with people who show up with their guns loaded because they feel their Sprint bill is too high -- and you, as the government, must have the ability to do something about it..... Most people truly don't understand everything that their elected officials (and staff) encounter on a daily basis.

In January 2005 I was approached by the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Galveston County about coming to work for them and helping merge the Galveston County organization into the much larger Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston. The Galveston County organization had fallen on hard times and after years of poor management and questionable expenses, they were being forced to either find a partner to merge with or close down.

Since 2006 I have done independent consulting for various political entities and politicians...
