Niko Franghias is an Athens Greece born filmmaker (writer-director) who has studied in Britain and has worked extensively in Greek advertising as a TV copywriter, director and agency producer.

Responsible for the audiovisual projects of the major advertising agency JNL from 1989 to 1994 - and then as a freelancer - he has fostered quality projects of multinational accounts from initial briefing to final product delivery.

In film, Niko debuted as a director in 1990 with 639+1 NIGHTS (30 min), co-produced by the Greek Film Center (GFC), Greece’s official state film Organization.

Niko followed in 1996, by writing, designing and directing the 60 min historical creative documentary LYSIPPOS EPOESEN based on the story and the art of Alexander the Great’s personal portraitist. Awards: Best Screenplay in the 1st ‘Agon’ International Festival of Archaeological Films of Athens and Audience Award in the 6th International ‘ArcheoFilmFest’ in Italy.

The film has been presented in the ‘Megaron’ Concert Hall of Athens, in the Archaeological Society of Athens sponsored by the President of the Athens Academy, on Greek TV and in several film festivals around Europe - as recent as October 2010.

Currently, Niko has three feature films in various stages of development:

1. WOMAN IN AUTUMN, an adventure set against the Greek Civil War and its displaced children – a unanimous beneficiary of the GFC’s 'Horizons' program award.

2. PARAMYTHíA! a children’s musical adventure, beneficiary of the GFC’s script-development program.

3. LONE MEALS OF GRACE a gastronomy drama, beneficiary of the GFC’s script-development program and of the MEDIA Program of the European Union for production development respectively.
