One day I was riding a bus to work, I was tired underpaid and overworked (or at least that's what I thought). I had just printed off a section from a book regarding the properties of light with regards to camera lenses. Ask anyone who knew me growing up and they will tell you that science and math weren't my strongest subjects, but in that moment I was so wrapped up and engrossed in what I was reading that I actually missed my stop.
For some this may seem trivial but to me it was an epiphany! I suddenly realized what studying really meant. It was at this moment that I knew that I could spend the rest of my life not earning too much money but still be happy as long as I was making films.
That was almost 5 years ago and although it has been a slow process I am getting closer and closer to that goal. For all those discouraged and disheartened, remember the wise words of Quincy Taggart (Galaxy Quest), "Never give up, Never surrender".
