Erica Frankel is a New York City-based Dancer. She hails from Snellville, GA, where she began her dance training studying and performing with teachers such as Ramazon Bapov and Deneen Graham at Carol Walker Dance Academy's Dancer's Company One. Erica continued training at Brookwood High School under the direction of Anna Maria D'Antonio, where she was awarded the Katrina Easter Memorial Scholarship for the Performing Arts. She was crowned "Miss Dance" of Dance Masters of America in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee in 2005. She also was featured in Dance Spirit magazine as the recipient of their "Future Star Award." Erica spent her summers studying classical ballet with full-tuition merit scholarship at the Virginia School of the Arts and also North Carolina School of the Arts. She also was selected for summer study at the School at Jacob's Pillow under the direction of Chet Walker in 2004 and 2005, where she performed work by Dana Moore, Bill Hastings, Alex Sanchez, Patti Wilcox, and Milton Myers.
Erica received her BFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 2008, where she had the opportunity to perform in work by her peers, as well as by Cherylyn Lavagnino, Gus Solomons Jr., Jessica Lang, and Trisha Brown. She also had the opportunity to perform while in school with the Second Avenue Dance Company, under the direction of Jaclynn Villamil. Erica also spent a summer abroad studying contemporary dance and improvisation at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) in Austria, where she studied intensively William Forsythe's Improvisation Technologies and performed in the Lust Am Risiko Festival.
Erica has performed in New York City and abroad with Meredith Monk, Ilana Webber Dance, SINecdoche Dance, MELD/Danceworks, Vabang! Dance Company, Layard Thompson, Dance Theatre Etc., P.M. Dance Co., and more. She has also collaborated with Flash Mob America, Royal Family Productions, and Elephant in the Room Productions.
Recent regional credits include the Actor's Equity production of The Music Man in Kansas City, for which Erica was the audition demonstrator for choreographer Michael Lichtefeld. She has been privileged to perform at such notable spaces as Lincoln Center, the Cornerstone Center, Kansas City Starlight Theater, Danspace Project at St. Marks Church, the Gene Frankel Theater, Dance New Amsterdam, The 14th Street Y, the Village Playhouse, Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX), Green-Wood Cemetery, Chen Dance Center, the Guggenheim Museum, The Robert Moss Theater, and Bridge for Dance.
Erica is an associate member of The Field, and a proud member of Dance Theater Workshop. In addition to her work as a performer, she is also an accomplished teacher and choreographer.
