I am a documentary cinematographer / director / photographer based out of Milwaukee, WI. I have experience working Digitally (P2 system, HDSLR) and in film. Working on zero budget documentary films, I have learned to be adaptable and have been a jack of all trades at times out of necessity, often times being the lighting, audio, camera, and director simultaneously. While I do not recommend this, sometimes you have to cut your teeth for projects you are passionate about.
Since moving to Milwaukee in 2008, I started a backstage music video series entitled "Blue Ribbon Vision" for The Pabst Theater / Turner Hall Ballroom / and Riverside Theaters. Bands included Grizzly Bear, Peter Bjorn and John, Dawes and many more. The series can be viewed in its entirety at: pabsttheater.org/blueribbonvision
In 2010 I hit the road with two other documentary filmmakers to go on tour with the bands Juniper Tar and Strand of Oaks. Over the course of the tour I worked as an interviewer, a cinematographer, and recording audio as well. The feature length film from our travels was premiered at the 2011 Milwaukee Film Festival. The film can be viewed online here: vimeo.com/25201518
I am currently in production on a documentary about a historic building in Milwaukee by the name of Sydney HiH. The building has been everything from an experimental surgical laboratory, to a punk rock club, a bank, a gay night club, and is now facing the immediate threat of demolition. For more information check out the facebook page I created: facebook.com/SydneyHih
In between personal projects I find work as a commercial photographer / videographer and an assistant.
