I teach English and Dutch language and literature to high school kids in Flanders. My native tongue is Dutch. I studied in Leuven and I have a master in literary theory and comparative literary studies. I have two children, Ewoud and Thieben, and I'm happily married to Ann. I was born in 1969. I 've always had a fascination for computers (my first was a Tandy with 8kb of memory!), gaming, and lately it has been video editing. I love Vegas Movie Studio 6 and 8 plat ed. I use low spec machinery: a canon md101, an Acer Aspire 1363 (512mb ram, amd sempron 3000 cpu), and a Toshiba mp4 (2.1 megapixel) for still photography, and of late the Canon A590 IS.

It is a Flash limitation. When Flash supports 5.1, *and* the tools that Vimeo uses for transcoding to Flash supports 5.1, then it is possible. But so far, the tool that Vimeo uses, ffmpeg, doesn't support 5.1. And even if ffmpeg adds 5.1 support in the near future, it will only be for a few formats. This means that you are looking for another 5 years before you see that feature used online.

That internet connection is enough. Either your ISP has trouble, or you are misinterpreting connection speed with playback speed, in case your CPU can't keep up with decoding.

It plays fine for me. You just need a faster computer, as Flash requires more CPU than local video decoding.

Upgrade your Flash 9 version, and it should upload. Make a new thread if you still have probs, this thread is only for exporting. BTW, when you reply to a specific comment on vimeo, please always use "Reply to this comment" and not "Add a new comment", because the "add a new comment" is not a direct reply, and doesn't send an email to the person you replied to inform him/her that you actually replied.

You need an HV30 to get 30p in the camera. The HV20 only does 60i and PF24. But you can get 30p the way you exported, by de-interlacing 60i. Quality is fine. 30p is not as smooth as 60i, this is normal, there are 30 fewer frames. You can't export 60i for the web either, because Flash doesn't de-interlace on the fly like TVs do. Also, you need a steadier hand to get a better quality, your video was moving a bit too much so that created all this bluriness.
