Exploding Motor Car is a collective of visual artists who formed in 2005 while attending art school. The group is best known for their inimitable audio-visual mash-up techniques spanning the applications of music videos, animated promos and video art.
They are also known for their psychotropic lightshows in recycled environments, their impromptu puppet happenings in public spaces, their commitment to salvaged and lowbrow set/costume design and their multifaceted approach to documentation and arrangement.
Their name is based off of an early British trick film titled "Explosion of a Motor Car" by Cecil Hepworth (1900).
