Founded by a small group of educators in 1954, Extra Credit Union began with $856 in assets and a few members working in an unused high school classroom.

Through our commitment to education, community, and service, we grew, and today, Extra Credit Union has more than 25,000 members, with about $193 million in assets. We serve the Warren and Center Line school employees and affinity groups of Macomb County, and operate three full-service branches, including a state-of-the-art headquarters in Warren, as well as branches in Sterling Heights and Centerline, nine student-run high school branches, three middle school branches, and on-site day programs at ten elementary schools.

We are the only credit union in Southeast Michigan to offer a certified K-12 financial curriculum. With in-school branches and products like youth loans, our curriculum is designed for hands-on learning, providing the financial fundamentals and customized services students need to make good financial decisions throughout their lives.
