    • Why does Vimeo have a Music Store?

We wanted to provide a place where our users can find music that they can put in their videos. Unlike music that you might download from a store for personal listening purposes, the Music Store allows you to find music that you can license for use in videos.

    • How do I add music to my videos?

    • How do I search Music Store?

You can search Music Store by typing in a Genre, Tempo, Theme, Mood, or a specific instrument. Our awesome search bar will automatically start guessing tags you can search by. Simply press the tab key when the term you want is highlighted to select it as a tag to search by. You can add as many tags as you want to get super specific!

    • How do I clear tags from the search bar?

Simply press the X next to each tag name to remove it, or press the X next to the search button to clear the entire search.

    • How can I get my music on Vimeo’s Music Store?

The Vimeo Music Store sources tracks from our partners at Audiosocket and Free Music Archive. If you have an account with either site, your music should appear in Music Store when searching the appropriate tags! To contact Free Music Archive, please visit: freemusicarchive.org/contact. To contact Audiosocket, please send an email to vimeolicensing@audiosocket.com.

    • How do I search for only free tracks?

Press the “advanced options” link under the search button to expand the menu. There you’ll find a slew of options including “Price Range” where you can search for only free tracks. Save some money and some music!

    • What does the star next to the tracks mean?

When hovering over a track, a star will appear on the left hand side over the track number. Pressing this will allow you to add that track to the “My Saved Tracks” list so you can always find it!

    • How do you choose featured tracks?

Featured tracks are chosen by the Vimeo staff. If we like something and think it would be a good song for someone to use in their videos, we feature it!

    • How does the Recommendations tab work?

This tab contains the full list of all of our featured tracks. It shows you the best of the best, at least until we update it!

    • What is the Music Store refund policy?

All sales are final in the Vimeo Music Store.

    • Can I share tracks I purchase with my friends?

When you purchase a track with a personal or commercial license, you’ve purchased the right to use it for your projects only. If a friend wants to use that track they’ll have to purchase their own license from the Music Store.

    • Why do I have to name my project to download the track?

We need this so we can generate your music license. If you don’t have an official title, you can describe your project.

    • Why can’t I find Lady Gaga’s music?

Music Store gets tracks from Audiosocket and Free Music Archive. These sites are filled with awesome creators just like Vimeo, and don’t contain tracks from mainstream recording artists.

    • What are the license options for paid tracks?

We offer two licenses for paid tracks: a Personal License and an Indie Filmmaker/Small Business License. Please make sure you read each license before completing your purchase.

For your convenience, here’s a quick summary of the differences between the two licenses:

If you have a Personal License, you may burn your video onto a DVD (or other storage device) to send to your family or friends for their personal, non-commercial viewing. But you may not make and distribute DVDs for any commercial purpose. If you have an Indie Filmmaker/Small Business License, you may also burn up to 1,000 DVDs for free distribution. If you want broader distribution rights, you will need to purchase a DVD distribution license.

Please contact vimeolicensing@audiosocket.com for more details.

    • What’s the proper way to attribute the tracks I use?

Some artists will require you give them attribution when using their songs. You can find out how to give them proper credit by clicking on the tracks title. On the tracks page, below the play button and track name, there will be a blue box containing the text they’d like you to add to your videos description. You can copy it and paste it right in when you’re ready!

    • What do I do with the license?

Keep it your filing cabinet, your safe, lock it in a chest, tape it to your ceiling, just don’t lose it! You may need it in the future if you ever need to prove you have a license to use the song.

    • What if I lose the music file I paid for?

No worries! Just check the My Downloads tab. You’ll always be able to re-download tracks you’ve purchased in the past.

    • What if I don’t want my songs to contain profanity?

Some tracks in Music Store may have explicit lyrics. These will be marked next to the track name with a red bubble that says Explicit. If you’d prefer these don’t appear in your search results, open the advanced options and turn the Safe Search toggle to On.

    • How do I remove a track from my cart?

When you add a track to your cart, you’ll see a black pop-up window appear in the lower right corner of the screen. Simply press the red X next to each track name to remove it from your cart.

    • What if I want to use my video with music licensed under the Indie Filmmaker/Small Business License beyond web distribution?

For two (2) years following your License purchase, Audiosocket will provide perpetual, worldwide licenses for the following media and uses at the following rates:

    • Can I use free music for commercial purposes?

In most cases, no. Most of the free tracks are subject to Noncommercial Creative Commons licenses. These licenses do not permit commercial use. However, if you’re looking to use an artist’s work commercially, you can contact the artist via their homepage or FMA profile.

    • Who is the licensor of the free music tracks?

Each track is licensed by the individual artist.

    • What is a Share Alike license?

If you’re using a track that is subject to a Creative Commons Share Alike license, the work that uses that track must also be made available to the public under the same license. For example, if the track is governed by an Attribution Noncommercial Share Alike license, any video that incorporates the track must be licensed to others under the same license. This means that others will be able to adapt your video for noncommercial purposes so long as they provide attribution and license any adaptation under the same terms.
