O Festival de Arte Digital – FAD é um projeto sobre a exploração inventiva de novas tecnologias no campo da arte e da comunicação. Um dos eixos do festival é a exibição de instalações audiovisuais, performances e demais apresentações, que privilegiam a arte eletrônica produzida por máquinas e softwares por meio de mídia digital. O festival também contribui para a formação de jovens criadores através de simpósios, workshops e palestras ministrados por artistas nacionais e internacionais.

Ações como as do FAD vêm promovendo o crescimento da criação e exibição no Brasil de trabalhos experimentais de arte criados a partir de tecnologia digital. Pioneiro do gênero no estado, desde 2007 o festival cumpre o papel de gerar programas de conteúdos culturais diversos, promover o acesso da população a novas tendências e manifestações artísticas, além de divulgar e contribuir para a formação de novos talentos e conceitos. Assim, o FAD oferece ao público o melhor da produção brasileira e internacional, contribuindo para o incentivo à exibição e propondo uma reflexão sobre a nova produção de arte eletrônica em Minas Gerais, no Brasil e no mundo

O festival também tem como meta primordial a questão da acessibilidade à informação e ao conhecimento, entendendo que a complexidade dessa questão passa pela popularização não apenas dos suportes, mas de seus conteúdos, códigos e linguagens.

FAD 2011

Em seu quinto ano, o FAD dá continuidade à formação de público, atividades de capacitação e fomento das artes visuais e circulação de novos e consagrados artistas audiovisuais nacionais e internacionais. Durante os 33 dias de programação, o festival promove ações que vão de oficinas e debates a exposições de arte interativa e performances audiovisuais executadas ao vivo.

Os debates e as oficinas interativas abordam temas relacionados ao fazer artístico com ferramentas digitais. Longe do deslumbramento tecnológico, pensar tal fazer é um meio de circunscrever de maneira crítica atitudes ingênuas de defesa do novo pelo novo. Para compartilhar essa reflexão com o público, o FAD convoca experientes realizadores, como diretores, técnicos e produtores audiovisuais nacionais e internacionais; além de pesquisadores acadêmicos.

Com uma programação totalmente gratuita e a constante preocupação em inserir todas as faixas etárias e sociais em seus objetivos e ações, o festival pretende continuar construindo em Belo Horizonte um potencial e importante público para novos movimentos culturais, artísticos e contemporâneos. Trata-se de uma comunhão entre festival, artistas e público crítico para o desenvolvimento de um cenário cada vez mais promissor no universo da arte midiática, eletrônica e digital.

The Digital Art Festival – FAD – is a project on the inventive exploration of new technologies in the field of art and communications. One of festival’s focuses is the exhibition of audiovisual installations, performances and further presentations that emphasize electronic art produced by machines and software, by means of digital medias. The festival also contributes to the formations of young creators through symposiums, workshops and lectures given by national and international artists.
Actions such as FAD have been promoting in Brazil the growth in the creation and exhibition of experimental art works created from digital technology. Being a pioneer in this genre in the state since 2007, the festival fulfills the role of creating programs of artistic content, giving the general public access to new tendencies and manifestations, as well as promoting and contributing to the formation of new talents and concepts. Being so, the FAD offers to the public the best in the Brazilian and international production, thus contributing to the incentive to exhibit and proposing a meditation on the current electronic art production in Minas Gerais, Brazil and the world.
The festival also has the issue of access to information and knowledge as its primary goal, understanding that the complexity of such issues passes through the popularization of not only the supports but also of contents, codes and languages.

FAD 2011

In its fifth edition, the FAD continues to prioritize public formation, training activities and promotion of visual arts and circulation of new as well as established audiovisual artists, both national and international. During its 33 days, the festival promotes actions which go from workshops and debates to interactive art exhibits, as well as live audiovisual performances.

The debates and interactive workshops address issues related to the artistic creation with digital tools. Far from technological fascination, such creation is a way to critically circumscribe naive attitudes which defend the new for the sake of being new. In order to share this reflection with the audience, the FAD invites expedient producers such as technical directors and audiovisual producers, both national and international, as well as research scholars.

With its schedule being entirely free of charge, and with a constant concern in contemplating all ages and social classes in its objectives and actions, the festival intends to continue to build in Belo Horizonte a potential and significant public for the new contemporary cultural and artistic movements. It is a communion among festival, artists and the critical public for the development of an increasingly promising scenario in the universe of electronic and digital media art.
