Ferroequinology student-for-life. My first experience with a video camera was with a borrowed shoulder-mounted full-size VHS unit in August 1994. I finally bought my own camera in 1996, an 8mm Sony Handycam, which served me well for nearly 11 years. In 2007, the Sony was retired and a Canon HV20, took its place. As of April 2012, the HV20 entered retirement in favor of an HF-G10, and the Rode SVM bought with the HV20 took a backseat to a Canon SM-V1 5.1 surround mic.
My main stomping ground is Ashland, VA and its surroundings. I also like to get up to Pennsylvania whenever I can, primarily the Altoona area. I'm hoping to broaden my railfanning horizons with longer-distance trips in the future - so many trains, so little time.
