WORK EXPERIENCE
Filep Motwary started off as a stylist’s assistant for the Greek edition of L’Officiel (2000) followed by a four-years placement as a first assistant designer to Couture House Loukia in Athens. In 2004 he moved to Paris as an intern for John Galliano, Christian Dior Couture and Chloé.

In mid 2005, he moved to Greece again to re-launch his own brand along jewellery creator Maria Mastori . Together they collaborated sharing the same space under MASTORI*MOTWARY STUDIO until February 2011. Their collections have been presented during the Athens fashion week as well as in Paris, Milan and New York.

In 2005, Filep founded Un nouveau IDEAL.
The blog focuses on fashion and art, supporting young talents as well as well-respected names in the field.

BLOG AWARDS
-Dazed and Confused listed Un nouVeau iDEAL on the top ten fashion blogs in Europe in 2009.

-In 2010, Un nouVeau iDEAL won third prize at the GOLDEN BLOG AWARDS in Paris, France.

Filep’s blog is also a case of study at the LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION by Dr Julia Gaimster.
Excerpt : “I wanted to write a book that was really practical, that was relevant to contemporary practice in the fashion industry and helped people to navigate the maze of information that is now available. It is designed to provide strategies and tools to identify useful and valid sources of visual information, to analyse it, store it and retrieve it. The book reflects twenty years of my experience as an educator in fashion and will be useful to students, researchers or anyone working in the industry that wants to become more strategic in the way they manage the visual research process. I have been very lucky to have professionals like Filep who have agreed to share their expertise and make the project possible.”

NUPTIALIS: IS THIS REAL LIFE (2011)

-Under the label MASTORI*MOTWARY STUDIO, Filep has released three films so far: “Sophia” ,“Sarka” and NUPTIALIS:IS THIS REAL LIFE.

The two first films have been selected by Diane Pernet and Vogue Italia’s Franca Sozzani ,
and participated in A SHADED VIEW ON FASHION FILM at CENTRE POMPIDOU in Paris in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
The films were also awarded at the Athens Fashion Film Festival in 2010. “Sarka “film supported by Michael Cacoyiannis Foundation and were screened at its headquarters with a private invite last season.

The event was supported by OZON magazine. “Sarka”and “Sophia” have also been presented and supported by Dazed&Confuzed magazine, POP magazine, AnotherMagazine, French and Italian Vogue.

For their NUPTIALIS project, Greek jewelry designer Maria Mastori and Cypriot fashion designer Filep Motwary reached out to the
Paris-based, directors duo Suzie Q. & Leo Siboni for their third
Fashion-film concept.

As result, the collaboration reveals a film, tinged with surrealism, in which the NUPTIALIS garment, a piece from Motwary’s couture collection and Mastori’s jewellery, become the answer to an intrigue, a mystery, but also a character in itself — a fantastic object, in the cinematic sense of the word.

The film is a solid part of the Hasselt Modemuseum PRINTS! Exhibit in Hasselt, Belgium running until January 2012, and was made with the support of Vogue Italy, Moonwalk films and The Stimuleye’s creative director Antoine Asseraf.

On October 7, 2011, the film received the “Young Talent Jury” Prize at the 4th edition of ASVOFF, founded by Diane Pernet at Centre Pompidou,

with the support of French Vogue.
The film NUPTIALIS:IS THIS REAL LIFE has already traveled to Tokyo and the Netherlands, presented at the FILMPLUSDESIGN Festival.
On December 17, the film has been selected as one of the main features of MODATIK’011 which will take place at the CRISTOBAL BALENCIAGA museum in Spain. (cristobalbalenciagamuseoa.com)

Filep is the Fashion Features Editor for menswear bible “Dapper Dan Magazine” and a solid contributor for a variety of publications abroad: ISTEROGRAFO, THE POP, “A” blog Curated by, HUSK.

In Cyprus, for 5 years he was the curator/editor of the Fashion Issue of Isterografo, published by Phileleftheros.Cy
