good it seems the title of this topic has roped you in .... to help me of course :)

I stumbled across one of David Lehre's video's last year and really wanted to know how the effect is done where the camera pans into a completely different location but it looks like the same shot.

For example the camera quickly pans from left to right in a front living room and in the continuous right panning motion the shot suddenly ends up overlooking the city skyline or something.

Before I post the link to this video do you guys know how this is achieved? can this be done in Sony Vegas? Are there any tutorials out there?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

The way I do this is to end the shot with, say, a left to right whip pan, and then start the next shot with another left to right whip pan. Then when you edit, you just cut them together to suit. Simple, but effective ;]

thanks for the answer Joshua. I thought this was the most logical way but at the same time thought there could be more complicated things involved like masking etc.

That's what I thought too, but then I tried it, and voila! :]
