If you're having trouble getting your videos to upload or convert successfully, here are a few things to try:
(1) Upload your file again. Many issues can be resolved with a simple do-over.
(2) Make sure that your video settings match our Compression Guidelines (vimeo.com/help/compression). Some codecs are not supported (vimeo.com/help/faq/problems_uploading#failed_conversion).
(3) Hardwire your computer to the Internet (via Ethernet cable) and disable Wi-Fi.
(4) Close any other open browser tabs or windows.
(5) Check your computer's power management settings so it does not power off or go to sleep during the upload.
(6) Update your browser (vimeo.com/help/faq/using_the_vimeo_website#browsers) and disable extensions (vimeo.com/help/faq/using_the_vimeo_website#disable_extensions).

Hey Eleonore, Are you getting an error message that says "Not a valid video file"? If so, can you upload the video to a file sharing website (such as Dropbox) and send us a link so we can check it out?

Hi, I continue to have problems in Plus uploading long format, this time I changed the settings to less - 6K Kbps vid and 320 audio, it takes at least 75 seconds to load, plays fine until 30% through, then restarts from beginning. The time readout in lower right says 25+ minutes.

Yes, the long one stops and starts over at same place, approx 60% into 26 mins. I am working on macpro 4 GB 800 Mhz DDR2 - ram that is I guess - do I need more?, I had to get a new grafix card last year. could this somehow be a function of the grafix card? I ask because my friend with a crummy laptop could play the video all the way through, as apparently you did. If that´s the case I will just continue to upload these 26 minute videos (its a TV series), I mean I don´t need to watch them, or will many people have that issue do you think? Hi, When uploading the video it goes well but when encoding it stops at 50%.
Later, the famous "Uh oh! There was a problem loading this video." appears.
I watched the video with mplayer in console mode but no error appeared.
I tried twice to upload, each time it stopped at 50%, maybe you encode in two pass and the second fails?
Indeed I did (and shall do) everything you said.

Hi Sylvain, it looks like your file does not quite conform to our Compression Guidelines (vimeo.com/help/compression). To avoid future conversion failures, I would recommend uploading files that meet these guidelines.
I am running this particular file through conversion again, which may resolve the issue. If you continue to see the error after an hour, I would recommend re-exporting your file according to our Guidelines, and then replacing the current version.

Nothing changed. I shall work on the conversion. The original video fits the required conditions (h264,aac) but is 60fps. I just want to make it 30fps to make the file smaller. At first sight it doesn't look complicate...

Uploading to my Vimeo Plus account seems to be stuck on an unsuccessful upload from FCPX. I have tried to cancel it to upload a smaller file, but it keeps starting at 92% and goes on and on, uploading and uploading well past 100%. Again, it seems stuck!
Can you all unstick this on your end and I will try again from another computer (I have been trying from my laptop, but I can easily flash the work to my desktop). The files I have are .mov and .mp4.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Meanwhile I am going to create a dvd for my client. This is a rough cut intended for their review. Katie

Hey there, I took a look at both the SD and HD versions of this videos, and both seem to be playing totally fine, with white as the background color at the beginning. Could you try viewing on a different computer or in a different browser to see if that makes a difference?

I downloaded the converted SD from vimeo - it has the same glitch when played in Quicktime Player (10.1) on my Mac Pro (2x6 core 2.66 - OSX 10.7.5)
However, on my MacBook Pro (10.7.3 / QT 10.1 ) it looks fine. Hmm.

When I upload videos they still takes a long time to process them and the system is still asking me to upgrade to the plus account or pro account. My purchase item # VIM00793373 done April 8th. I have been having problems with my video uploads for the past 5 days. Almost half the uploads are failing. I have sent a number of emails to support asking for help or at least some guidance on what is happening but have received very little back except to say that they are aware of an issue and are trying to find the root cause - that was three days ago. Uploading to vimeo to me is a general pain. No matter on which device (iPhone, iPad or PC/MAC). The web uploader and the vimeo apps are not stable. Vimeo should really offer an alternative stable solution like (s)ftp.

I have had the same issue for the past year. It takes me 2-3 failed uploads (this means that I'm losing 8+ hours each time) before it all works. I know that Zena is trying to help by addressing everyone here on on the forum as well as via email support but she has no clue about the internals of the system. I'd like for Vimeo engineers to chime in on these issues as this is an ongoing PROBLEM. I will not be renewing my subscription if this continues and will search for alternative methods to publish our videos.

Hi there, I am having trouble uploading my video, I click to upload, and choose the file, and then it goes back to the uploading page and absolutely nothing happens.... Do I need to change the type of file which the video is? I have the file in two different forms, 1) MP4 and 2) MPEG-4.
