I have a question, alot of my videos have stutter on them when I play them back on my pc
Internet(120 Mbps cable) certainly isnt the problem and so isnt my pc (3770k with 560 gtx-ti).
My friend also has the same problem on his pc (also high end) but there is NO stuttering on the ipad.
Should it be something to do with the export settings in premiere pro?
I do use the Vimeo templates
Thx

Hi there, sorry for the trouble. Do you notice a difference between using the Flash player and Html5 player?
Vimeo FAQ: vimeo.com/help/faq/using_the_vimeo_website#switch_player
Pixel Produxions Plus
No sadly enough not. I also checked I got the latest flash player

I did some research and I found someone who has the same problem in his shots also on Vimeo
photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1196299 (video inside the topic). There are guys in the topic that tell its because its 24p filmed and you are using a panned shot, could this be the problem?
But then again in VLC player they play fluid after uploading they don't...

All computers play back video differently. Unfortunately, that's just the nature of online video.

I already watched it on 2 other computer and it's even worse probably because my pc is pretty high end.
The other 1 was a normal desktop and the other a laptop, but with good internet connections.
The thing is alot of other videos i can watch without stuttering even filmed with 4K cameras, so that cant be the problem. It plays fine on ipad, the origal file plays fine on my pc,
Do you need a high end pc to watch vimeo videos? I had a little project coming up with a friend, thats why i'm now testing the best settings for upload and stuff like that, but what do i need to do tell him we won't do it because 75% of the possible viewers their pc's won't be fast enough??

Like I said, every computer is different. It could be some plugin, app or browser issue, antivirus, flash, hardware config, and a billion other things.. For what it's worth, the video plays flawlessly on my low-end macbook - i'll have someone look at it on the office PC today as well.

Ok thx, because i'm scratching my hair.
My pc was formatted last weekend, latest flash, no virusscan yet, looked at it with: IE, firefox, chrome . And google chrome was the best result

Huh, weird. Sorry we cannot be of more assistance. I checked out your videos as well and they are playing back smoothly.

can you guys tell me if this video stutters vimeo.com/44016067
this guy has the same problems ONLY in slider shots. He took the problem to another forum. And it is overthere that they tell it's because of 24p, mine were filmed in 30p just to be sure
This is another slider shot that i filmed, does this one stutter?

I would appreciate it.
Thx

Any updates yet?
I also took this to another forum, over there they told me
"If I play the Vimeo file a few times, the stuttering goes away, maybe a frame dropped here and there.
I have to reiterate, an internet connection is a variable thing. I have a service that claims 40 Mbits down and 10 Mbits up. I realistically get only 20-30 Mbits down and 5-8 Mbits up, depending on the time of day.
So, congestion and contention are all part of the mix. BUT BUT BUT...
Vimeo does throttle uploads and downloads to and from its servers. No matter how good your ISP bandwidth is, Vimeo will throttle the videos down the pipe and most certainly throttle the upload - speaking as a Pro subscriber.
Your videos all play fine when - and specifically when - one has watched them a few times and everything's buffered into RAM or whatever. which may mean there's a bit of contesting, congestion or throttling going on. I've downloaded the originals which play fine too."

"Vimeo does throttle uploads and downloads to and from its servers" - We absolutely do not.
I honestly can't explain the issue you're having - we are unable to replicate this issue. Sorry.

I had it watched overhere by already 5 different persons on different locations and different computers/mac's and its always the same, it stutters.
I also transferred them the original file to compare but it plays fine
The person who claimed this is from the UK it also stutters with him, thats a other country, so it certainly cant be a local problem

Like I said earlier, no two computers are alike. It could play great on one, and bad on another. This is simply the nature of online video.

I'll join this thread.
All my videos pause/stutter, and this has been the case for several weeks (if not months). It happens even with SD video.
I doubt that it's at my end: 20-30 mpbs download speed, gigabit wired ethernet, 6 core Mac Pro, latest Flash, tried Firefox and Safari both, etc. I have plenty of horsepower available, but I can't watch my videos (nor, it seems, can the people to whom I send links).
So far as I know I followed all Vimeo recomendations for compression.
When I first began posting on Vimeo, playback worked well. Now it doesn't seem to.
Here's one example. Back when I posted it (9 months ago), it was near-perfect.

Any advice?

Hi Don, sorry about that. Are you noticing this issue in all browsers? While in Chrome or Safari, can you see if there's a difference between using the Html5 / Flash player?
Vimeo FAQ: vimeo.com/help/faq/using_the_vimeo_website#switch_player
Don Mitchell Plus
Using Chrome makes no difference.
I have to admit that I can't see any place to switch from Flash to HTML5, either on Safari or Chrome. The player I see offers me no controls.
Don Mitchell Plus
Ah, found it. For a recent short HD one, it's even worse with HTML5 on Chrome (Chrome/Flash is bad also). An SD one from a few months ago, also Chrome/HTML5, is completely unwatchable.
The same is true for Safari. Unwatchable.
I'm talking complete halt, and that only after a few seconds.
Unusable.
Ian Durkin Staff
Hi Don, thanks for the information. I'm going to have our developers look into your account to see if we can make any improvements. Do you have any anti-spyware software installed or browser add-ons?
