I've replaced the video file 8 or so times now.
Audio is fine, but the video is too fast.
Plays absolutely fine in Quicktime and iMovie, is only a problem when I upload.
I've also re-converted several times but no joy.
Let me know if you find a fix!
If you dowanload the video in Quicktime trough the Vimeo Download button. Everything is fine...
Any idea anyone??
You can see the video here: vimeo.com/5436568
I tried several sizes, HD, not HD, various compression settings.. ALWAYS th same part of the video get cut off....

Have you checked this out: vimeo.com/5295925
Also, please read and follow our recommended settings here: vimeo.com/faq#recommended_settings
I discovered that black zones in the movies can also provoque sound issues.

vimeo.com/4383876 – I previously uploaded this file two months ago and everything ran smoothly and appeared exactly as it does in Quicktime. I accidentally uploaded over this video last night with another short film and tried re-uploading the same file that I uploaded two months ago and encountered this issue. The same problem is happening with my other video here: vimeo.com/5445246
Please help! Thanks!
please, help thanks
If your site is dedicated to video, then I think this is a serious issue!!! Why would I upload another video here if it is going to mess with the audio/visual sync.
Dang, and I just paid for the PLUS service a day or so ago.
Vimeo please respond :-)
Check out this post where I explain in detail how I could solve it: vimeo.com/forums/topic:15277
Thank you
Michael
Are you overall happy with the Plus version of Vimeo?

Is having your uploaded video in sync with the audio a feature exclusively available for the Vimeo Plus users?

Hope something is done from the Vimeo side soon
Can someone from Vimeo please address the problem without pointing us in the direction of the recommended settings?
The .mp4 source file never slips out of sync so right now I'm experimenting with AAC+ Version 2 with Precedence set at Frequency to see if that fixes anything.
After 10 different 1 hour videos and many settings attempted I'll know if I found my answer tonight after this file uploads. I deserve a "Staff" status if this works.
please fix this the encoding is fine works fine on a dvd too
Staff?
Thanks

Other than directing everyone who is experiencing audio drift to the tutorials and tips are Vimeo doing anything to address this problem?
Vimeo right now is totally useless to me since I can't share this video with my friends.

and make sure you are using the exact settings we recommend - vimeo.com/help/compression
I too have followed the recommended settings and am using Vegas pro.

I have a problem with my video
vimeo.com/5963344
The audio is out of sync. I am entering this video into a contest, and really need it fixed.
I have tried EVERYTHING for the past few days.
I cant upload the program to encode my video into different settings, becuase i keep gettting an error message. Ive tried everything in ALL of the FAQ places and tutorials.
Please help! :(
-Sammy ;)
Now my 2 latest ones are all out of sync & I changed nothing so something is different on Vimeo side. They play fine on my PC too.
Please sort it out!
Please remember to post links to your videos when referring us to them. Can you link me? That way I can take a look and possibly send them back through for you.
I thought this whole thread was recent comments and figured it was a global issue that was going on.
Here are the 2 videos, i tried a few times over the last 2 days.
vimeo.com/5894636
vimeo.com/5895588
The engine RPMs & sound doesnt match with the video.
I hear shifting in corners and it's quiet / loud in the wrong places.
Here is one from 10+ days ago for comparision.
Everything is spot on from the time i start the bike.
vimeo.com/5689084
And I double checked it late in the video too. At 17:20 there is a downshift going into a turn and it matches up perfect with the original avi file on my PC.
Thanks for your efforts and response!
This did not correct the issue though.
They play fine on my comp but not on the site. Please help. Thanks!
I sent vimeo.com/5892257 back through for you. But the other seems to be having issues with our machines. Does it have any areas of pure black in it? That might have thrown off our machines as they can chop off areas of pure black.
There are no areas of pure black in either vid, and the one that you sent back through for me still is out of sync.
I hope they come forward and correct the problem, if anything, put it back to the way it used to be.
We didn't change anything recently. What are you having problems with? While we constantly tweak our machines to make sure they are working as best as possible, any major changes would be announced.
Thanks for your response. This is the first time I am having problems with my video being uploaded, it's out of sync, video plays faster than audio. Previous uploads on similiar/identical formats, no problem, even same lengths.
Something must have been "tweaked" as you indicate, so it's a vimeo problem of course, where we're all waiting for vimeo to fix.
Well again we really haven't changed anything that would cause that. While we see users having sync issues, I would first ask if you have any areas of pure black. A long standing issue with our machines is that sometimes they chop black areas down creating desync. In which case we recommend inserting a slug. If you don't have any black areas, you can give me a link to the video to check out for you.
There is no link as I deleted the video to figure out what else to do to the video to make it "good" for vimeo.
Do you have any instructions for conversion exactly?
My video has MPEG-4 and the audio is PCM, not mp3.
vimeo.com/5904075
It's not High Definition video, it's Standard definition, so there's no way it's going to be H.264 with AAC audio. It's right now, MPEG-4 with PCM audio, not even mp3. It should be just fine.
This and only this setting below, is completely unacceptable.
Codec
• Choose H.264 for the video codec. Choose AAC for the audio codec.
vimeo.com/5912053
The yellow title immediately whisks away, teling me that the video has gotten screwed up by Vimeo again.
It plays fine here on on my PC, etc.
When will VIMEO fix their re-encoding?
vimeo.com/5937637
I noticed that every time the scene changes the audio gets out of sync).
This happens with many files before - please help!!!
Back again. I fixed my problems with the audio sync. So from scratch, what about my material and settings? Well it's all down here. I wrote it all down so you can see exactly where your project is different or whatever...So maybe my settings are not usefull for everybody but it sure works…
I shot everything in 1920x1080, PAL 16:9, 25 frames on a compact Panasonic 3CCD HD camera (love that thing btw). File format = .MTS
Imported the RAW stuff into Premiere CS4 and made the following project sequence settings:
- AVCHD 1080i square pixel
- 25 frames/sec
- frame size 1920x1080
- field: upper
- audio 48000 Hz
So, i edited the whole clip and got to the (perfect) export settings (found it in a video tutorial for converting MPEG files for Vimeo).
Export Settings:
- Format: MPEG2
- Preset: Custom
Video Settings:
- Quality: 5
- PAL
- 1440 x 1080
- frames p/sec: 25
- Field order: None (progressive)
- Aspect ratio: widescreen 16:9(1,333)
- Profile: Main
- Level: High
Bitrate Settings:
- Encoding: VBR, 2 Pass
- Minimum: 25
- Target: 25
- Maximum: 25
Leave the rest untouched...
Audio Settings:
- MPEG
- MPEG 1 -layer
- 48 Khz
- 192 Kb/sec
Leave the rest untouched...
So, that's that. Now i have a superdetailed sharp HD 1GB MPEG file for a 5 minute video. Seems good to me. Now, for converting it to Vimeo i use TPMGenc 4.0 Xpress.
Drag the 1GB MPEG file into the source screen. It automaticly detects that the MPEG file = progressive 16:9. At the 'filter' tab i select the function:
Deinterlace = No Deinterlace (because it already is deinterlaced). Klick OK and go to the format tab. For converting i use the Windows Media Format conversion to make it a good quality .WMV file ready for upload.
Settings:
- Windows Media Video 9
- Size: 1280x720
- Aspect ratio: Display 16:9
- Framrate: 25 fps (progressive)
- Video encode type: 2 pass VBR (average bitrate)
- Average bitrate: 3000 kb/sec
- Video quality = 100
- Audio: windows media audio 9, 1 pass CBR, 192 kbps, 48Khz, stereo CBR
Now it says that my video file will be around 117 MB in filesize. Seems good to me. CONVERT. Now upload the file to vimeo and they will do the rest. This always works for me…
If that doesn’t work there is an alternative that should absolutely work. I use the same 1GB MPEG2 file and drag it into TPMGenc 4.0 Xpress. Now, instead of using the WMV encoding format i use DIVX file output. I know, not you’re favorite conversion to work with but…the quality is (almost) the same.
DIVX Settings:
- Encode mode: Advance mode
- Profile: HDTV
- Aspect Ratio: 1280x720
- Aspect ratio: Pixel 1:1 (DON’T select something else)
- Framerate: 25 fps (progressive)
- Performance: Balanced quality (You can shift with this one I you like)
- Rate control mode: 1 pass constant bitrate
- Bitrate: 3000 kb/sec
- Audio: 48000 Hz, Stereo, 192 kb/sec
Filesize is exactly the same as the WMV conversion, 117 MB. CONVERT and upload to Vimeo. They will do the rest.
So. That’s that. Most of the times I use the WMV conversion to solve the audio sync problem. BUT…sometimes that doesn’t work for me either... So than I go for the DIVX conversion and then it always solves the audio sync problem.
I hope I helped you guys a bit! Get your hands on TPMGenc 4.0 Xpress, works great.
Stefan

I guess I will use this with my HD stuff in the next week as I have MTS files from a Canon Vixia HF S10 that will need to be up here.
Just curious. You mean it's absurd/crazy to use the settings i use or just insanely great? ;)
Stefan
Marketing mumbo jumbo says...
"So whether you are an amateur filmmaker, proud mom, restaurant critic, or just a guy with a cellphone, connect with Vimeo today."
I'm basically a guy with a cell phone only its a GoPro Hero Cam that records AVI files. Its one of the most popular action cam on the market right now & it works so its not the cam. Vimeo says they support AVI files right?
Everything worked fine for me over the course of 2 months. Then I pay for plus membership & now it stops working properly.
I paid for a service and I'm not getting what i paid for. Now i guess I'm supposed to go buy video editing software & create a workflow so I can upload a video.
There is either an issue and Vimeo is looking into it, or Vimeo thinks there is nothing wrong at isnt doing anything. If its the later then Vimeo should refund my $$$ cause i consider that false advertisement.
If it said..."If your a guy with a cell phone & video editing software and lots of time on you hands to optimize your video so it will work properly on our site" well then that would be a different story. But it doesnt say that and I'm not an ameture film maker and I want my $$$ back because Vimeo is now worthless to me.
If it didnt work properly with my AVI files from the start that would have been fine too, cause i would have found a different service that fits my needs and never paid my hard erarned $$$ for Vimeo Plus service.
But no, I get the ole bait and switch deal.
And to top it all off it doesnt look like i'm the only one having issues that never had issues before and hasnt changed what they have been doing. Are we just here to tell lies?
Vimeo you should be ashamed of yourself!
What say you?
PS >> The default avitar should be a frowning face and not a smily face.
The audio is ALWAYS out of synch. I have no blank frames at the top either. Works just fine everywhere else, even on youtube.
I tried everything, settings, re-encoding. The most puzzling thing is that I did not change anything to my encoding process. Something must have happened on Vimeos' end.
It is becoming to the point where I will have to switch service very soon.
Ah hah, this continues to re-affirm my theory that VIMEO has "tweaked" their settings as mentioned earlier to having just about everyone with audio/video sync problems now.
Angela, what other services are you using that allow up to 1 GB of video?
I paid for VIMEO plus, what other services do you suggest?

We originally liked this video service you provided and many of us even upgraded our accounts and paid you.
Now, within the past month, we've been shocked to realize you've "tweaked" your settings to our inability to get 99% of most videos uploaded to your website.
You are now requiring us to basically go head on and spend enormous time and resources in getting our videos 110% correct right down to the level of detail that previously was not necessary and thus not required.
We are asking you to please correct this problem and stop constantly "tweaking" your video requirements and video encoding process.
If you refuse to make the changes, then please remarket this service as for only professional experts only with a number of years of video experience only, not for the "average Joe or Jane".
This is really getting to be ridiculous and even more so that we have not seen a formal response from you here in this thread at all.
We truly want this service to be working, so I kindly ask that you respond to this letter by stating that you will make whatever fixes, corrections necessary to bring your service back to what it was approximately a month ago where the audio/video encoding actually worked for "normal" people, the bread & butter of your online video service.
Thank you.

I'm sorry that you're having these frustrations. We are only "tweaking" the process in attempts to solve conversion problems for as many users as possible.
We will continue to work to make the conversion process as simple as possible for everyone. I'm sorry that right now it's not a simple process for you.
I KNOW i should use the suggested settings. But these are hard to understand, difficult to follow steps. WHERE would I go to change all these settings?Where to start? Please help me

We have made tutorials that explain this.
Here's one for Windows Movie Maker: vimeo.com/131649
Here's one for iMovie: vimeo.com/130622
You choose and select the settings when you go to export your video, as you'll see from the tutorials.
I did use these setting (the broadband 512k thing) and it still did not help.
My video is still out of sync.
Please help
Im so sorry. I dont mean to rush you or post again or anything, but I am really in a hurry to get this fixed.
My video, vimeo.com/5963344
is out of sync and needs to be entered in a contest, which OBVIOUSLY has a time constraint.
I KNOW i should use the suggested settings. But these are hard to understand, difficult to follow steps. Literally, WHERE would I go to change all these settings? I have no idea where to start.
Please help me by trying to sync my video, or atleast telling me how to go about changing my settings for my video.
Thank you so much, I have been on here for the last 2 days with no luck.
Please help me
