I've exported my video 3 times now using the compression settings that are recommended (or as close to it as possible) and once it's uploaded, the video and audio are out of sync. When I watch it on my iMac, it's fine, but after upload, it's out of sync.

I'm ripping live video of our church service from DVD using Handbrake and then trimming start and stop points in Quicktime. No fancy software here. Like I said, it looks perfect on the iMac before upload, but after upload it's off.

    Please help!

I have the same problem. The video is like a strobeeffect. For a while it worked when I reconverted the video. But no this feature does not work any longer. It stops saying that the video will start converting in a few moments. For more than a day now.
    So, no solution.
Please Vimeo stuff, clear things up.
BTW, I have not changed any codecs and file formats and I a plus member.

    Best

I'm also seeing sync issues with video once it's uploaded/converted. The original mp4 version looks fine, and perfectly in sync throughout, but after upload/convert the audio slowly looses sync and by the 1/2 point is off by many frames.

I've tried several different sets of encoding parameters and they all end up with issues at about the same point.

Oddly enough, this seems to only happen with video that is a combination of musical performance and speech. Videos of the same length that are solely speech remain completely in sync...

Having sync issues myself. Same story: the original file is perfect, the uploaded file is waaayyy off. I'm re-uploading a new version right now, but I'm afraid it will be to no avail. Too bad though, the Vimeo embed player is so beautiful compared to YouTube's player. * Sigh *

Oh sure... way to prove me wrong, Vimeo! The new file plays back perfect ;) Ha ha! I re-encoded to 29.97 on my end and that seemed to do the trick. Snap!

I'm having the same issue. Frustrating.

Per @joel, just re-encoded to 29.97 and am upping to see if that helps.

Well after a full day of encoding, and uploading, I finally figured out the problem (or mine at least). I had adhered to Vimeo's "recommend settings" on several attempts. This video I was trying to upload was edited at 29.97 fps. When I was encoding with Handbrake, I was leaving the frame rate setting at "same as source" since it was 29.97 fps. For kicks, this time I set it at "29.97 NTSC Video". That seemed to do the trick.

Possible something needs to be done on Vimeo's side of things to make this a more forgiving process. Not to throw the competition in their face, but You Tube seems to able to handle a variety of encoding parameters with way fewer problems.

Interesting, and thanks for letting us know what worked for you in the end despite all the time and frustration. I'll take your comment under advisement and see if we can make the process a bit more forgiving.
