Yesterday and today I am uploading videos the same way I always do but after the file uploads I get a message "problems uploading". The video plays but no audio. I am creating the files to upload the same way I always have for years. Never had this problem before. I even tried uploading files that worked in the past and I am having the same problem. No audio. Anyone seeing this?
  • Andrew Pile staff 4 months ago
Do you have a link to an example video?

Also having the same problem. Have uploaded the file twice now and even downloaded it again and it then plays fine on PC but no audio when played through Vimeo. vimeo.com/6379631

I think it's your audio codec, try AAC for details see here- vimeo.com/help/compression

i'm having the same problem as well. tried compressing the file in dfferent ways but always have a 'problem uploading ' at the end then only part of the audio plays. both examples are on my page

It looks like this video: vimeo.com/6388039 has 7 audio tracks! For simplicity we always choose the first track, which apparently isn't the entire audio. You need to flatten or downsample all the tracks to be one track.

OK got it working using Quicktime and the AAC settings. But the WMV worked before and there is no AAC setting in WMV so why does Vimeo say that WMV is OK? Something has changed over there but I can certainly live with the QT export now that I know that will work. Oh I still got the "download problems" message when the download ended. But it's all good now and thank you very much for your fine site and your personal effort Daniel.

Not to repeat the chorus but I just had this problem too (see link - no audio). I normally "pull-down" my video and upload as HD 24p but this time I just worked with the original-capture 29.97 fps. This was the only change to my process so I thought I'd mention in case it helps.

I thought I was doing something wrong but now I'm guessing it's not me. Thanks for anything you can do.

I've been using WMV export forever (w/out problems) but given the issues I'll start using AAC.

**UPDATE** I'm not sure if Vimeo fixed something or if my adjustment fixed the issue. I re-rendered my video to MP4 (instead of WMV) and the audio worked.

I use Sony Vegas Pro 9. Here are my export settings
    MainConcept AVC/AAC plug-in
1280x720 (29.97 fps, 1.000 pixel aspect ratio, progressive scan)
Audio: AAC 44.1 Hz and 320kbps

    here's the updated video Link --> vimeo.com/6433824

I'm having the same problem with this video : vimeo.com/6462883

I've reencoded the video, reuploaded different versions 4 (YES, FOUR) times, but still no luck.

I've used AAC and MP4 audio.

I'm exporting from Final Cut Studio, I've always used Eugenia's settings in the past, with no problems at all.

Before I delete the video (up till now; I've always replaced the current video, and I'm afraid that somehow vimeo is still "remembering" the original file I uploaded, since nothing seems to help).

Thanks in advance for any useful or helpful advice !

I forgot to add that the same file plays fine on my Mac AND on facebook and exposureroom (I've uploaded it there too). So my guess is that the problem is not my file, but vimeo.

I am a plus member and have been using vimeo to with a widget to upload my church service video's directly to the church web site for 33 weeks. Suddenly last week would not upload with audio. I changed nothing on my end. When I looked at the chats I discovered several others were having the same problem. The advice was to change the audio sample rate to 44.1 kHz. I did that and sure enough the audio uploaded. My problem is that I am capturing and editing with Pinnacle Studio 10.8 and the only conversion I have with 44.1 kHz is a low quality resolution of 320 x 240. I am very unhappy with that quality. Why did the 48kHz audio stop uploading and will it come back. If not I will be forced to find a different way of uploading in order to get the quality I used to get with vimeo.

    Hi Benny,

I recommend you try using Handbrake it's free and very good at compressing videos, here's a link handbrake.fr/?article=download, export out of Pinnacle at 48khz and then out of handbrake following these settings- vimeo.com/help/compression

Additionally, you might want to update your version of Flash, it's a bit dated, check here- vimeo.com/help/flash
