A Facebook application. Nice! Subvimeo doesn't quite cut it anymore.

You should try to work with Joost and make a Vimeo channel. That would be pretty neat.

Final suggestion, if vimeo could implement distribution methods like blip.tv I would leave blip.tv.

There are plenty of reasons to think of to use Vimeo instead of blip or revver.
The best one is they don't do commercials over here. Another big pre to me is all the changes you can make yourself to your embed functions etc.

we hear you. vimeo's mission has always been to focus on becoming an engaging and compelling destination for video sharing. while we take your suggestion to heart, i don't think vimeo will focus on becoming a distribution hub to other services.

I don't know if it's just me or what, but the site is running really slow right now. It takes ages for video data to buffer, even though I have 100Mbps modem. It's so slow, I've given up. Don't want to wait 20 minutes to watch a 2 minute video.
It would be nice if there was a button to click that would stop buffering a video after you've decided not to watch the rest of it.

How about to drastically speed up the upload times. Have a downloadable "Vimeo Converter" app so we can convert the files ourselves. And skip the converting power on your end? Would save resources on your side of things.

Possibly, have that app be able to upload the video once converted too!

Yeah, it was my first thought when I registered and found out there's no app like this. Then again, I remembered that all I need is just the detailed requirements and I can compress it in my editing app.
By the way aside of a standalone app I can imagine it as a plugin/export profile for the most popular NLEs/motion graphics apps from Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, Avid, Canopus etc if it would make more sense...

A feature such as this is no easy feat. However, we are considering such an app, but its not on the dev schedule yet.

I think it would be cool (and helpful) to add comments to a video based on time code. I know YouTube and other sites are doing annotation directly over on the video, but I just mean a text block that syncs a comment with a video time source.

You can do that, if someone types e.g. : Hey I really enjoyed this bit - 4:22. Vimeo would find that time code in the video, and put a bit of code to allow users to skip to that section of video. I hope I have that correct.

What I would also like to see as a feature would be, external links to other versions of that file, e.g. I have a video file in .avi, maybe I want someone with a mobile phone or a psp to download it, so I convert the video to m4v or 3gp and upload it either to Vimeo or an external server, and boom include it with the downloadable video section. Maybe Vimeo included hosting could be with paid Vimeo+

I'm betting this has been asked for before, but I thought I would add my voice to the request. A Vimeo premium account that lets you add video produced professionally.

For eg - I have just completed three Community Service Announcement commercials for a remote Australian Electricity company that basically outlines ways of keeping safe in cyclone season to isolated (mostly indigenous) communities. Because they are so remote, it would be helpful for all concerned if they could view the videos on the web for approval, but because I have been paid to produce them, I don't think they are allowed on Vimeo. A premium account that let me use the web to deliver this kind of product would be very useful.

BTW, I love the quality, ease of use and great embed functionality you've developed. Well done.

There needs to be unlimited storage and file size in the PLUS version....if I want to upload a feature length movie shot completely in HD, then there should be availability to host that here...
