    Hi:

I am in dying need of a timelapse tutorial. I have a new HV20 camera and some great fottage and would like to try my hand at this. I have vegas pro 8 installed on my computer so I would prefer a tutorial around that software. If you can help please contact me or post the tutorials here.

Hey Ivan, in Vegas, simply hold CTRL down on your keyboard, then grab the right hand side of your video clip and move it left thus squishing the clip over a much shorter time period.
You can do slo-mo buy extending the length to the right.

You can only speed up the clip by a factor of 4x so if you want faster you have to render the clip off in a lossless format, return the new clip to Vegas, and repeat.

If you want to avoid ghosting (trails), right click the clip and in properties choose avoid resample.

    Voila.

If you can get hold of a Mac, prefrably of the laptop kind, theres a great program called iStopmotion which allows you to connect your cam to the Laptop and the program automaticly takes pictures every 2 or 3 or however many seconds you want, and best part, it saves right into the computer (no need for an extra tape)

You can try the Pro version of the program for free for i think 15 days, not sure. Anyway hope that helps, heres the link

Thanks for the link Stickman, didn't know something like this existed and will have to give it a whirl.
My Dv cam is not listed but it also doubles as a webcam so I might be in luck. At least I know the icam will work. Cheers!

iStopMotion can also do timelapse videos with your still camera. So if you have a recent digital still camera, you might experiment with that as well for higher resolution. Although, I suppose an HV20 would have plenty of resolution to work with.

Make sure that you plug the camera in if you plan on making a timelapse over a period of time longer than your battery's life. You probably had that figured out already, but I thought I'd mention it just in case. I almost forgot to plug in for my first timelapse over a week. Oops! :-)
