and I'm willing to pay for it.
Your servers are great, your encoding kicks YT's ass three days to Sunday.
My only issue is my weekly limit.
Come up with a fair rate and I'll pay you for more so I can migrate all my YT based content to Vimeo.
As it stands now I'm just going to create more accounts to get around the limit and I think that's a hassle for me and you.
    Thanks,

What exactly do you need to upload that's so big?

It's not one file, it's all of my clips.
Take a look at my YouTube account and you'll see that I direct live music for a living and there's content that I've directed and own the rights to and/or have clearance for that I'd like to migrate to Vimeo.
The only thing stopping me is the fact that I'm limited to how much I can upload in a week.

BTW - the suggestion that I re-encode everything is a non-starter. It would take too much time and energy to do it all again, plus I want to maintain the quality that Vimeo affords it's users.

Then just do it in batches. A few clips this week, a few more next week. Why does it have to be all in one go?

Time, and that's the way I work.
    "Why put off today..."
Admittedly I'm impatient, but the whole point of sites like this is to cater to the users/content providers and having limitations is a bit of an anathema.

Unlimited bandwidth costs money and it's prone to misuse. Most people are not willing to pay, even if you might be.

    "and it's prone to misuse"

With respect, I think that was the case years ago but not now. Too many more convenient outlets if that's your goal like Google video, or even rapidshare, sendspace, etc...

I guess there should be an option for those who do want to pay. Maybe a tiered system based on bandwidth, or space?

Again, if it's truly a consumer based model then it needs to be flexible to that end and that is my ultimate point.

"Most people are not willing to pay"

I am I am!!! And judging by the threads on the (hopefully) forthcoming "Pro Accounts", others are too. Cross your fingers K A L, should be coming soon.

And just a side note, I don't necessarily need etra space but I'm more than willing to chip-in, so to speak, even on my limited budget just cuz I like Vimeo and posting my work here in HD is of huge benefit to me and my humble little production company.

If you need to upload > 500Mb a week, perhaps you could "buy" extra storage based on how much you need to use, for a fair price? Maybe in 100Mb chunks?
