    Hello,

I am from Holland and my English is not great. Sorry for that.

I want to buy a camera, and that will be an hv30 I think, I'm not so happy with tapes but I’m going for quality. And better editing.

I heard about Wet and dry tape's. Can somebody tell me more about this?
And what is de difference between HD mini-dv tapes en de normal mini-dv tapes?

    hey,
well, sony uses the so called wet tape. sony advises not to use those tapes if you switch a lot with other tapes because it can leave residue on your video head.

For more info, go to www.xha1.nl It's a dutch site with more info about that and other stuff. Worth checking out.

I think wet vs dry tapes are tapes used for cleaning the video heads, not recording images.
There are dry video head cleaners, and the wet ones use a cleaning solution applied to a movement in the cassette that cleans the camera.
The differences in tape are quality of construction, density of magnetic particles, and numerous other considerations including tape length.
Beware, there are also lubricants that are particular to the various manufacturers, that can combine to form gunk inside the tape transport. It's best to find a good brand, and stay with it.
    Hope this helps.
