I host a blog on my own domain, running the WordPress blogging platform. I would love to integrate my Vimeo vids in there, but I can't seem to embed them. I've tried all of the plug-ins I can find, and it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions? I know the Vimeo staff keeps hinting at new developments, but it seems like it's taking a while; and if that's the case, maybe I should just use a different service in the mean time? That'd be a shame though, because I truly love the Flickr-ish features this community provides.

    Resolved.

I just needed to turn off the WYSIWYG editor because it converts the embed tags.

Sooo... I guess my new feature request would be to have a tag on a forum post to mark an issue "Resolved." That way, if people are having similar issues, they can look at previous fixes. And, the problem will no longer receive unnecessary attention.

As opposed to just deleting this post, which I considered.

So you were able to use the embedded player object in Wordpress by pasting in the html? I can't get that to work on Wordpress. Can you post the wordpress page URL so I can look at it?

    Thanks

    Hey mates,

I have wordpress blog and I always post Vimeo vids on my blog here's an example: pumatalk.com/blog

The Editor that I use is this: fckeditor.net/ it's pretty good and you can download and get support here: groups.google.com/group/ChenPress

Let us know how it goes mate.

I don't think that will work with Worpress sites hosted by Worpress. Are you running Wordpress on your own server?

    Nice site btw.

    Ed,

Many thanks for the kind words mate - it's also running on my own server however I believe I did a typo - i guess what I was trying to say was: the Chen Press is the FCKeditor version for WordPress

Here's the link: wordpress.org/support/topic/40690 - you'll notice my 2 posts in there as I tried to install this in the summertime, overall it works great.

    my best,
    Joey Dee

I'm running Wordpress on my blog at themarkpike.com/blog

I'm not quite sure how to post on the Wordpress hosted blogs, but they usually have all sorts of built-in tags and plug-ins for video embeds. Good luck!

They don't have a tag for Vimeo yet. I should probably just host the thing on my server, but it's just a stupid finger puppet blog so I don't want to invest to much time in it. My video blog on blogger has no problem with Vimeo.

    Ed,

I still don't understand why you can't play Vimeo clips on your blog? All you need to do is copy & paste the "Share code" of your vimeo clip on your Vimeo page. It's a HTML code that you copy & paste into your WordPress...

pumatalk, it won't let me embed any players. It must be because I use the free site that Wordpress hosts. Blogger will though.

If I was hosting it myself using Wordpress I'm sure I'd be able to.

I'm wondering if there's a way to have the latest upload to Vimeo automatically post on my WordPress blog. Anyone know of a way or if it's a service that's coming?

There's a badge thing at the bottom of the page, under 'Useful stuff'.

I'm a little late on this thread but here's a useful plugin you can install that lets you simply add in the vimeo ID number. It wil lautomatically add in the rest for you:
    viper007bond.com/wordpress-plugins/vipers-video-quicktags/
I've used it on a Wordpress blog I set up and it works great.
If you have no idea how to install a plugin (it's really easy, even for newbies), then just use the method above where you click the 'html' button and paste the code in. You can't paste embed code directly into the WYSIWYG editors.

it's been said a few times, but some people don't seem to get it. Here it is explicitly:

    log in
    click users
uncheck the box "Use the visual rich editor when writing"

you can now insert video from vimeo, youtube, etc

  • keith 2 years ago
That is a more perminent method, but I think most people prefer to use the "visual rich editor" when posting anything other than embedded video clips.

Wordpress.com blogs now support the following embed codes (clip numbers are for demonstration):

    [vimeo vimeo.com/173714]
    or
    [vimeo 173714]
