Can you post vimeo vids to blogs on wordpress.com?

I was looking at livejournal, but apparently they don't let you embed flash. Then I looked at wordpress, but they seem to imply the same in their faqs.

Is it possible to post videos to wordpress? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a good blog hosting site where you CAN embed vimeo clips?

If you can't thn vimeo really needs to get in contact with these sites and get on their "white list" so that its possible to have their videos posted ike it is for youtube, flickr, etc..

I've been using Blogger.com for a year now and all of my videos, both flash and quicktime movies hosted here at vimeo have worked well for me.

Vimeo also works on Yahoo! 360. Sadly, Vimeo doesn't work on Vox. But I've emailed Team Vox about this and will report back what i find out to the rest o' the Vimeo community.

djp, are you doing anything special to get it to work on wordpress, I can't seem to make it embed correctly on my install

Xanga works, MySpace works, Blogger works, Typepad works, Moveable Type works, and Wordpress works if you host it yourself.

LiveJournal and Vox should work soon, we are talking to them.

Windows Live Spaces doesn't work... OH DARN!

I have some experience with hosting Wordpress myself. Here are some tips:

When posting embed code, use the html editor and not the WYSIWYG. This is the button labeled 'HTML' on the toolbar.

I installed a pretty good plugin that allows you to simply paste in the vimeo ID of the clip you want. Essentially it ads the following to your post:
    [vimeo]93257[/vimeo] where '93257' is the clip's ID
    (http://www.vimeo.com/clip:93257)

Then, the plugin automatically adds in the rest when the page displays. Here's a link to grab the plugin:

    viper007bond.com/wordpress-plugins/vipers-video-quicktags/

Typically in Wordpress 2.0 all you have to do to install a plugin is copy the files into the wordpress plugins directory, go to the admin under 'plugins' and activate the plugin. Sometimes there might be other things you have to edit, usually the plugin creators are pretty good about explaining that stuff.

Wordpress.com blogs now support the following embed codes (clip numbers are for demonstration):

    [vimeo vimeo.com/173714]
    or
    [vimeo 173714]

i'm still trying to figure out the
    following two funkadeliacs with wordpress:

    - if use vipers plugin, 'full' icon does not work.
    - if link via direct embed, 'resume' icon at end of play does not work. need to refresh browser to replay.

    otherwise so far works magic.

see both in action here at test site, in above order:
    pohjonen.org/aili-jalene

oh ... and if you do check above site,
please let me know if you see something different than what i described above - ie. vimeo does not work. i've only verified firefox and ie7 locally.
    thanks.
