Got a brand new Apple TV but unable to login into vimeo. Tried restarting. Tried disconnecting app in settings, but without any luck. Now get message vimeo is unavailable, before that it mentioned 'not able to login. Other apps are working fine. Any idea?

Sorry about that, Hugo. Can you try disconnecting the Apple TV entry here: vimeo.com/settings/apps and then trying to log in again? Let me know if that helps.

Disconnected again. New message appears now. "401 Unauthorized - permission denied - the oath_token passed was either not valid or expired.
But I'm sure I'm trying now for 2 days with right password.

Sorry Hugo, but we have a reduced staff presence over the Thanksgiving day holiday in the U.S.A. When it comes to this issue we're not sure what's going on as we've received only scattered reports. Once we return on Monday we'll investigate further.

Hugo: what version is your AppleTV software? i am running 4.4.4 (3330) ...I know there is a newer version but im hesitant to update if others are having problems with newer versions as the apple tvs main use is an app that runs better on 4.4.4.
ive been trying to do a reset all settings but for some reasons my settings arent being reset. may end up updating the appletv after all

I can't login to vimeo on my appletv. I have already restarted it and made sure that I have the latest software. I am certain i have the right username and password. I also can't use airplay to play any vimeo movies from my iPad 3 running iOS 6. I am sad,

I've been trying to address this issue a couple of times. Last time Ian promised they're working on it. Still doesn't work though. You can still try to log in a couple of times, just open it, get kicked out, open it, get kicked out etc and at some point it suddenly works. BUT not for long, usually you get kicked out after a while again.
@Vimeo: I have the feeling nobody really is working on this to fix it. Like me, many others bought the Apple TV specifically for Vimeo. It's just not the kind of service we would expect from our beloved Vimeo.

I have exactly the same issue as Hugo.
Brand new Apple TV.
Latest firmware.
Disconnected in settings on vimeo and tried to reconnect. Didn't work.
Reset Apple TV to try and clear everything and started again.
Then it worked.

Ah I spoke too soon. Just as I got it working, after I left Vimeo and went back to the main menu, when I chose Vimeo again, I got the dreaded "Vimeo is unavailable. Try again later".
Really frustrating....I don't want to have to reset Apple TV each time to access Vimeo.

Hi Hugo, I would try disconnecting the AppleTV app from your Vimeo account (under Settings -> Apps), then access Vimeo on AppleTV and follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect. Have you tried doing this since the fix we pushed about a week ago?

How would I be able to disconnect if I have never, NEVER, been able to connect. Never ever have been able to log in.

Hugo, I think Zena means in your vimeo settings. I had the same issues as you on the Apple TV itself. But in Vimeo Settings there is an apple TV option, you need to disable that (little red cross).
Then try logging in to Vimeo on Apple TV again. This then reactivates that setting in your vimeo account once you log in (even if it fails - I observed this).
When I got it to briefly work, I had to delete the setting in the Vimeo account, reset the Apple TV, then set it all back up again, and then finally log in. It worked, but I as soon as I left Vimeo on Apple TV it stopped working again.
I haven't tried it since.

Having a similar problem.. except vimeo was working fine...THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN... vimeo on "watch later" didn't work at all. It says "unavailable." and "Likes" don't update on the Apple TV. This happen suddenly! Tried restarting. unplugging etc. Logging out. Logging in. NOTHING. In going through Vimeo forumS looks like there has been a problem with vimeon on apple tv since at least APRIL 2012. ANY WORD ON THIS??????

To reset the Apple TV? Yes, I did that, but it did not solve the problem. I still can't see my "Watch Later" videos and "Likes" will not update and add anything new.

The rest of Vimeo works on my Apple TV, by the way. It's just the "Watch Later" and "Likes" that don't.

This has been happening since April, or it just started? Did it start after an Apple TV update? Which firmware are you running?

It just started, and I had not recently done an Apple TV update. I have now, of course. I have restored twice and deleted the Apple TV icon from my page on the Vimeo website.

It looks like the videos in your Watch Later list are private (hidden from vimeo.com). Videos with this privacy won't show up on Apple TV.

The Watch Later and Likes from my private channel were showing up until about a week ago, but they don't now. In other words, I'm having the the same experience as Janet. Also, judging from other posts, we aren't the only ones.
Did Vimeo change something so that private channel Watch It Later and Likes no longer show up?

I can get inside VImeo but cannot log into My Videos. Vimeo asks for password, then gives me the "401 Unauthorized" message. Apple TV isn't even inside my Vimeo apps either. What's going on here? This has been screwing up for months. GRanted, I'm grateful to see Vimeo, but still... would like to be able to see MY videos too...

After 3 months I was able to login after the new apple TV update I installed today! For the first time! Oh man, what a joy.
After watching 1 video I was kicked out again... Cannot log in..... Grrr.

Hi Jeremy, the 401 error can only be fixed by resetting your Apple TV. To do so, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Note that this will log you out of all accounts, including your Apple ID, so you'll need the Apple remote that came with the device to log in.
Once you've reset your Apple TV, try logging in again and let us know if you're still having trouble.

Well that's a pain. Why would vimeo peeps need to re-set anything? That's asking your community of users to do more work (after they've already done it).
What causes this? There's enough geeks out here. Might be beneficial to share?

There's a bug where disconnecting your Apple TV on vimeo.com/settings/apps before you log out of your Vimeo account on the device itself can lead to the 401 error.
There are other login issues that are affecting a small subset of users, but for now resetting your Apple TV should resolve the 401 error and bring you back to the 'full' login prompt (email and password).

Hi. I just updated my Apple TV2 and tried to login to Vimeo for the first time. I got the same error as you guys: Vimeo not available...
I disconnected the app from vimeo.com/settings/apps
And could access Vimeo again. I tried login again. Another failure. On the third attempt it worked. I'm now logged in and I can see my likes/watch later. I hope it will last!

Ok the Apple TV went in stand by. When I turned it on again I was still logged in and I could play my watch later. However as soon as I went back to the Vimeo main menu, the "Vimeo is unavailable..." error came back. No more access to Vimeo. A bit annoying... Are you guys still working on the issue? Any progress?
