I tried uploading a video today with Mountain Lion's built-in Vimeo interface. But it started transcoding in the background. I want my original video files to be on Vimeo, so how can I avoid this extra transcode step?
And, just out of curiosity, would Vimeo's server transcode the video again after Mountain Lion does?

Hi Elliott, Mountain Lion will not transcode your videos - however, every video uploaded to Vimeo goes through a transcoding step on our servers. This is necessary in order to make your video compatible with our player. Hope this helps!

If ML does not transcode, then why does my CPU usage jump up to 700% for a few minutes before it starts the upload? (I have an 8 core Xeon).

I'm not entirely sure. I assume though that it is exporting the file to a format that can be uploaded to Vimeo. Unfortunately, this is not a step that you can skip.

I am facing the same problems with my videos. They upload fine, but they are not converting.

Hi Dan, can you link me to a specific video so that I can take a look?
