Frascati is an innovative, dynamic theatre in the centre of Amsterdam operating at two locations: Frascati on the Nes and Frascati WG on the Wilhelmina Gasthuis site. In addition, Frascati regularly programmes in Flemish Arts Centre de Brakke Grond. Every year, Frascati presents more than 700 different Dutch and international productions, as well as producing some fifteen large and smaller-scale productions itself.
We have three theatre spaces on the Nes, namely Frascati 1, 2 and 3, where leading work from the Netherlands and abroad is performed. Our regular companies often première their work with us, and we show all productions by companies such as Bambie, Mugmetdegoudentand and Dood Paard. In addition, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, ROtheater, Toneelgroep Oostpool and the Dutch National Theatre perform some of their repertoire in Frascati, and we show work by newer companies such as Schweigman& and Omsk (Lotte van den Berg). A great many theatre productions from outside of the Netherlands are also performed at Frascati, alongside our focus on dance, performance and theatre on location.
Frascati WG (previously Gasthuis) consists of a theatre space and a number of smaller studios at the Wilhelmina Gasthuis site. Here, we give a platform to promising early works; young, innovative but not yet established, Frascati WG is the theatre laboratory of the Randstad area of the Netherlands.
