Juergen Beck was born in the Black Forest area of Southern Germany. He attended school at Friedrich-Weinbrenner Technical School in Freiburg, Germany, and graduated with degrees in contracting and architectural design. As a young man, he pursued a number of creative endeavors including photography and videography.
In 1995, he sold practically everthing he owned to travel to the United States in pursuit of his on "American Dream". Later that year, he settled with friends in middle Tennessee.
In 1996, he met and married Lydia Shelton of Tullahoma, Tennessee. Two years later saw the birth of Beck Productions, a video production company specializing in event videography.
The new millennium brought with it another birth—a beautiful daughter, Rachel Renee, as well as the offer to work as a photojournalist with the NBC affiliate in north Alabama. As a videographer with WAFF Television, Juergen was responsible for the production of live and taped news and sports events. Covering the news helped him cultivate communication skills as he dealt with people from all walks of life. He also developed flexibility while shooting video in a wide array of situations.
In 2003, Juergen realized a dream when he was sworn in as an American citizen. He established Freedom Light Productions (FLP) in 2005. The name, “Freedom Light”, is a reflection of his appreciation for this country’s freedoms and the opportunities they afford.
In recent years, Juergen has had the opportunity of working with a number of businesses and organizations in the area, including the Decatur-Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Red Sage Communications, Habitat for Humanity of Morgan County, and the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. In August 2008, he traveled to Beijing, China to be a part of the Olympic Broadcasting team.
