Geoff Knorr
Geoff Knorr's music has been performed by large and small ensembles across the country, including the Minnesota Orchestra, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Wheaton College Symphony, and Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, among others. His music has received numerous awards, including the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award, Macht Orchestral Composition Award, as well as honorable mentions in the National Association of Composers, USA and Salvatore Martirano Memorial Composition Competitions. He was selected as a participant in the 2009 Minnesota Orchestra Composer Institute.
Geoff recently worked as a composer, orchestrator, and sound designer for Firaxis Games, a developer of PC and console video games widely known for the popular turn-based strategy series, Sid Meier's Civilization. He composed approximately half of the original music and completed all of the orchestration and music preparation for Civilization V, scheduled for release on September 21.
Mr. Knorr is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, having received a BM and MM in Music Composition and BM in Recording Arts and Sciences. While at Peabody, he studied composition under Christopher Theofanidis and Michael Hersch. He currently resides in Sparks, MD with his wife, Cat.
