Gerard Carson is a visual artist based in London and is currently studying an MA in fine art at the Chelsea School of Art & Design. His practice takes form through a precarious catenation of interconnecting substances and varying states of information, . He is interested in contexts where comprehensions are abstracted through the abundance of accumulated data and the objects which are used to emit or store this data, giving rise to immaterial networks, and the devices that are developed to access the information that moves between an ethereal environment.
His video works are developed through a process of breaking down video files to their constituent parts, focusing on their complex, yet also simplified forms. The videos have a common link in that there is a strong emphasis on colour phases and scrolling movements. Gerard describes these works as "video sculptures", as he uses video as a medium within his wider sculptural practice.
