Dalas, I'm a big fan of Vimeo and will continue to use it for personal use and for the public radio program I work on. I respect what must have been a difficult decision. When I was trying to find an alternative to other video sites, the downloadable option for the source file was one of several factors that weighed in to my decision to use Vimeo as my primary community. Discontinuing this option -- even for base users -- going forward is understandable; retroactively deleting existing files submitted under a non-binding social agreement is disappointing. Making changes like this are understandable, but I do wonder if these business decisions quietly erode something greater -- one of Vimeo's most valuable assets: trust. My best.
