Gliese 581 is the story about Eva, a young woman who voluntarily puts her life at risk to write history. Born in the year 2207 Eva has been trained for one specific mission; traveling to the system Gliese 581 to discover a new planet like earth. Close to her final destination her spaceship starts to have some technical malfunctions. She has to make a choice, traveling back to the space station or continuing her journey with the knowledge that returning won't be possible and the chance of success is utterly small.
Gliese 581 is a graduation film of a group multidisciplinary students at the Utrecht School of the Arts. It is a long hold dream by many of the crew members to make a Science Fiction film. Even though this plan is highly unusual in the Netherlands we decided to pursue our dream anyway.
This movie is our graduation project and we are in need of some financial support to realize this film in the way we envision it. When completed, the film will be send to several film festivals like Netherlands Film Festival and it will also host it’s international premiere online.
