Matt Bonham is Professor of Political Science and International Relations, and Co-Director of the Newhouse/Maxwell Public Diplomacy Program in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. The Maxwell School is a member of APSIA, The Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs.
Matt is teaching full-time during the 2012-2013 academic year.
Matt's research has focused on the problem of representing and comparing the cognitive maps of policy officials, and the use of such representations to develop computer models of foreign policy decision-making. His recent research has examined cultural factors in international communication as reflected in figurative language, such as metaphor and metonymy. He is currently conducting research on communicative aspects of the "War on Terrorism."
Matt was a Fellow at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, and he is also a member of the International Studies Association (ISA), the American Political Science Association (APSA), the International Society of Political Psychology (ISPP), and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC).
