Hi Rob!
Great tutorial.
I was just testing a scene with sweep nurbs and a star kind of the same set up you used.
I find the subdivision of the nurb too less. Everything was a bit sharp and sometimes strange forms.

Try to achieve that effects with the mograph tracer object but haven't been very successful with that.

Even when I create a simple "cable" with the sweep nurbs the result is not too smooth.
