Leena Pendharkar is an award-winning writer and director. Her most recent project is the comedic web series, So Natural, which pokes fun at hipster women and covers everything from pregnancy to spirituality. Those shorts have been on the front page of Funny or Die and the Cheezburger Network’s FailBlog. It is hosted on YouTube in partnership with the Comediva Network.
Prior to the web series, Leena wrote and directed her first feature, Raspberry Magic, about a young girl’s connection to nature. It screened in over 20 film festivals, and was called “heartwarming with a strong crossover appeal” by Variety, and received the Audience Award at the Philadelphia Asian American film festival, is available across a variety of digital platforms and TV. Leena’s script, A Day with Dandekar, about a retiree searching for a car his daughters have traded away, was recently selected for the FIND screenwriter’s lab, and for the prestigious Tribeca All Access program.
She has made a number of award-winning short films, and teaches production and screenwriting at Loyola Marymount U. and Otis College of Art. Leena holds a Master's degree in documentary film production from the UC-Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, and has also trained in improv and sketch comedy writing at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.
