Colin Hewson is one of five local people chosen to participate in the United Way Glenelg project 'Local Eyes'. For this project, participants were asked to document a typical day in their life through photography. Colin lives on the outskirts of the small town of Casterton with his partner Les. The pair moved to Casterton five years ago from Melbourne so that they could buy a property and grow a huge garden. They have a mutual love of birds and animals. A 'typical' day for Colin is looking after his birds, gardening, visiting friends and drinking coffee.
The aim of the project is to get a glimpse of our community through quite different lenses, i.e. the unique perspectives of individuals within United Way’s community.
Colin's photographs and photo-story will be on exhibition in Portland in March 2013.
Colin met up with ABC Open (Colleen Hughson) to reflect on his photographs and to record a story about a 'typical' day for him. He then edited his story with assistance from Colleen. This story is now part of ABC Open's 'Day in a Life' project- an online gallery of stories from Regional Australia.
