New Farms for New Americans (NFNA) is a gardening and agricultural program serving over 90 immigrant and refugee households from Asia and Africa. Its mission is to help participants at three levels: 1) access community gardens and gardening resources; 2) learn about commercial farming in the U.S. and participate in social enterprise sales, or 3) start up a farm business. Organic food cultivation helps participants earn supplemental income, maintain cultural traditions and improve mental and physical well-being. The NFNA program also aims to contribute to the sustainability and working landscape in Vermont.
