On 4 March 2014, the British Council hosted Ruth Mackenzie CBE, Director of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, and Curator of its finale, the London 2012 Festival. This official cultural programme for the Olympic & Paralympic Games was the largest UK Festival in the country’s history, involving over 25,000 artists from every country participating in the Games, and over 20 million attendances, 80% of which were free.

Ruth led an inspiring conversation with Görgün Taner, Director of Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, sharing her experiences of working on such a high-profile and far-reaching arts festival and answering questions from audience.
