Hi! This project sponsored by ASL Rose is exciting! An ASL Milestones chart will be developed. Milestones represent a visual benchmark of signing skills shown by age and development. Parents and teachers can view video clips to see these milestones.
Why is this important? This will give teachers and parents an accurate picture of age-appropriate language standards in all content subjects. There will be two groups: Deaf children and hearing Kids of Deaf Adults (KODAs). The ages will be from birth through nineteen years old.
What will I need from you? Video clips of your child showing dialogue, group activity, presentation, storytelling, or peer chats. Here are some examples.
Please keep in mind this does not guarantee your video will be selected. Your signature on a permission form is needed to allow us to use your video in this project and on our website. This is not a diagnostic or an evaluation tool of your child’s signing skills. Your video must be in Quicktime format; and if you have old videos like VHS tapes, please convert them to Quicktime.
Thank you so much for watching this vlog. If you have any questions, you may contact Jaclyn at email@example.com.
