A couple of years ago Bastiaan Koch (vimeo.com/bastiaankoch) asked me if I could procedurally sample a high resolution model, maintaining rigging information and populate it with diamonds. After many, many spare hours trying various techniques this is the sampling technique that I settled on. This is a hybrid method using a combination of explicit topology and variable disk poisson sampling. I should have another demo up in the next couple of days showing the skeletal animation component.
