I've been waiting patiently for my 1000x CF cards to arrive before really diving into the newly unlocked RAW shooting video modes of the 5D Mark III courtesy of Magic Lantern, but I just couldn't wait any longer and had to give it a go.
The best I could record without skipping frames was 1280 x 540 on my 266x Kingston CF card (just under 30MB/sec), so this is what it is. However, the new workflow posted by Cinema5D worked tremendously well and the post processing via Photoshop and Premiere worked brilliantly. Very little overhead and even at this crappy resolution, all of the traditional advantages of RAW were readily apparent (huge dynamic range for highlight recovery, all of the usual lens and picture corrective features in Adobe Camera Raw, changing white balance in post, etc. etc.).
This Magic Lantern thing is a total game changing development.
