The making of this video left myself with frustration. During the first trip from Oregon, down to Rocklin, California, I thought I would be able to capture all shots and record all audio in a short weekend. Though I almost had this accomplished, stupidity took over and I ended up temporarily losing the extra batteries for my camera, as well as the charger. This barely allowed me to film the interview, and I ended up with bad audio.
A week later, December 21st, I made an attempt to head back down to Rocklin to re-record the audio, but 60 miles into California, we ran into a snow-storm. On the two-lane highway, there were four lanes of traffic, two of which people were putting chains on their tires, one that was squeezing past heading South, and the lane heading North, nearly in the ditch. As we were finally going steadily, a car going very slowly up the snow-packed road left us stuck on the hill with the four-wheel drive in my pick-up broken. We finally got going, turned around and headed home knowing that it wouldn't be a safe trip.. It took us 5.5 hours to get to that point and back home (only 120 miles total).
Finally, on December 28th, we headed back down, recorded and filmed the interview, gathered a few extra clips, hung out with the Pearson's for a day and headed back North on the 29th. We didn't get home until about 3AM December 30th.
As I started filming in January of 2012, I wanted to release this video December 31st because it was the first professional athlete I had filmed and I wanted to be able to say that I made it that far in less than a year. I began editing late December 30th, edited and color-corrected for almost 24 hours straight and finally released the final product on the Oregonal Co. YouTube account around noon on the 31st.
My goal for this video was to have it posted on VurbMoto and make it be the most-viewed video of Alexah. It ended up being posted on Vurb a few days after I posted it, as well as Racer-X Online, the One Industries website, many other less viewed websites and is now the most viewed video of Alexah on YouTube. I am beyond thankful to be able to say that I accomplished all of these goals in less than a year, it really is a dream come true.
