The Esalas began their assignment to Ghana in June 2003. Nathan’s role is to assist in tasks that facilitate the use of God’s Word among the Konkomba people, including translation of the New Testament into the Likonl dialect.

In addition, Nathan represents LBT to partner groups in Ghana, including the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana, and provides both technical and practical support to other LBT missionaries in Ghana.

Sarah, a registered nurse by profession, assists the project by developing relationships in the community especially with women. Her days are full managing the household and home schooling their children.

Karissa, Annaka, Aili, and Isaac are very busy most days playing with their friends, communicating in a mixture of three languages. They climb trees, ride bikes, play in the river, make mud pies and soups, and play ‘house’ and ‘school’. With each other they enjoy playing littlest pet shops, barbies, and dress up.
