An animated explanation of Newton's proof of a theorem relating to orbits of celestial bodies. The first minute, without narration, introduces the visual vocabulary that will represent the concepts of time, force, and distance in the film. The final scene marks the Cornwells' first use of computer-assisted animation in the frame-by-frame calculations for manually positioning a triangular area which follows an object on a complex orbital path through 600 frames of movement.

This is a digital transfer from a VHS scan of a 16mm print, so unfortunately it is not of prime quality. If anyone locates a 16mm print of this, please let me know.
