I had the pleasure of seeing The Treatment play three times over this weekend. First at Yah Yahs with The Chromenips, supporting those grunge gods from Seattle, Mudhoney at The Corner and finally at Ding Dong with Money For Rope. The first thing I exclaimed was, "Hey, what the hell...that's Rusty Hopkinson from You Am I, on drums!". On guitar I notices it was Owen Penglis, the main man from that super crude power pop punk band Straight Arrows. With Matt Wicks from Black.Loop on vocals and guitar and Leroy Bressington from Cabins on bass, it is a potent mix. Any band that can play a rippin' version of my all time FAV aussie original punk classic "You're Driving Me Insane" by The Missing Links, has instantly got my attention. Described as being like "The Troggs on steroids", here is a band to that play "in your face" psychedelic fuzz garage rock swagger that I haven't heard live in years. I highly recommend checking out The Treatment next time they are playing in town.
The Treatment’s debut record- DRIVE ME CRAZY is out 22nd July 2012 on Illustrious Artists. The Treatment are a four- piece band from Sydney who create a “high energy garage punk feel, mixed with in a psychedelic landscape". It was the appreciation of Psychedelic Garage Rock and late night impromptu jams, that made it work. The Treatment share members with YOU AM I / STRAIGHT ARROWS / CABINS / BLACK.LOOP.
