    Call for Artists: Visual Deflections

    Visual Deflections returns as a showcasing opportunity for new and emerging artists working in lens-based imagery. Building on its previous success at the Roxy the project aims to stage a screening to provide an opportunity to engage with contemporary artists working with the moving image.

    The event will be held in Corbet Place in Shoreditch on the 29th August 2009. The brickwork of the venue, part of the Old Truman Brewery, provides a stripped back aesthetic for cutting edge music and contemporary art.

    Work will be selected around the idea of Visual Deflections which infers the interruption of the image through distortions of time, movement, light and space. It may also suggest a manipulation of assumptions and identifications that reverberate between the spectator and the projected image.

    Requirements:

    - Videos: 5 mins approx. Format pref quicktime on CD. DVDs also accepted.
    - Artist’s statement
    - SAE for return of work

    Deadline 17th of August 2009

    Were are hoping to screen Pipilotti Rist's '(Entlastungen) Pipilottis Fehler' (1988) alongside the emerging artists. Contacting EAI at the moment...fingers crossed!
