A C Reynolds High School / Reynolds Over Owen September 2, 2011
The decades old Owen - Reynolds rivalry gets a little boost as Owen Coach Kenny Ford seeks his 200th career win at Owen. Injured Reynolds running back # 15 A J Marion supports his team on crutches as former defensive player Tommy Burns cranks up a new running game.
Kicker Blake Metcalf is key in the Reynolds-Owen game as 3 of 5 punts finish inside the 20 yard line and 4 of 5 kickoffs are deep for touch backs.
# 23 Chase Foster intercepts a tipped ball to end the Owen first drive. # 40 Devin Cunningham gets his first big gain as a Reynolds Rocket.
The Reynolds defense dominates, led by # 99 Moliek Short with 10 solo and 2 assist tackles. # 7 Jaelan Pruett receives the longest completion of the night from # 4 Levi Ledford who went 9 for 19 passing.
But the offensive standout of the night, by far, is # 32 Tommy Burns. This is what I call power running, the kind that loves slo-mo! Burns scores the first Touchdown of the night, with just over 2 minutes left in the first half.
# 5 Katon Harwood and #20 John Setterlind get a big sack. # 7 Pruett gets the longest punt return of the night. 18 Davon Washington gets another Reynolds interception. # 6 Jave Jones leads the Reynolds receivers with 3 catches for 36 yards.
# 40 Cunningham gets a nice run followed by scoring the second Reynolds touchdown. # 36 Justin St. Onge gets a sack as he had 6 solo and 5 assist tackles and a blocked kick.
An Owen punt settles at the Reynolds 9 yard line, allowing Burns the opportunity to score with a 91 yard run.
Kicker Metcalf also went 4 for 4 on extra point kicks.
Quarterback Ledford gains 16 yards on one of his runs. Burns shows a move and speed to score his 3rd touchdown of the night.
# 88 Andrew Long intercepts to allow the Rockets to run out the clock.
