A documentary work in progress that focuses an appreciative eye on the increasingly popular, vivaciously spirited, aquatic art freakshow that is the Coney Island Mermaid Parade. The results of shooting six consecutive years (from 1996 to 2001) of 16mm B&W and color film with a Bolex camera. The Mermaid Parade is an annual celebration of the summer solstice, Brooklyn style, and is the main event each year in the people's playground, Coney Island.
